What a show!! All of Key Stage 1 boarded 2 coaches and headed off to the Repertory Theatre to see 'The Snowman' on Thursday 16th January. The show was amazing and the children were awe inspiring!! Their behaviour was impeccable! :-)
After an hours coach journey, we all bundled into the auditorium and sat in anticipation. The show began with a snowy scene and the boy asleep in bed. Our seats were brilliant as we could see the whole of the stage and the orchestra pit!
The children were glued to the stage as the story began to unfold…. After speaking with the children, they stated that there were several highlights to the show including: when the snowman came to life; the cat dancing; the giant coconut and of course, the moment the snowman and the boy started to fly across the stage! It was truly magical!
As a staff team, we were more taken by watching the wonder on the children’s faces as the magic of the show grew and grew. It was an absolute pleasure taking them on this trip and, despite the never ending coach journey on the way home, it was definitely worthwhile!
As a school, we highly value providing opportunities for children to engage with and be immersed in the arts. It helps to build imagination and creativity and promotes opportunities for essential speaking and listening opportunities.
We would like to extend our gratitude to parents and friends for their support on the day and their flexibility with our return time due to horrendous traffic!
Inspired by the show, the children are now busy in their classrooms doing follow up writing tasks and activities!
