Key Stage One Visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens

On Monday 30th June the children of Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to support their Plant Paradise topic. 

Having learned about rainforests and produced some amazing homework projects about them, the children were able to experience the warmth and humidity of a rainforest through visiting the Tropical Glasshouse where there was a wide variety of rainforest plants, some with the most gorgeous flowers! They were also able to see at first hand some amazing cacti and other desert plants in the Arid Glasshouse. In a Rainforest Fun activity, we were all able to use our senses to appreciate a variety of rainforest seeds and products. We were then shown a giant millipede, a corn snake and a bearded dragon before having a picnic lunch in the sunny gardens. After lunch we visited the aviary to see some exotic birds and the Butterfly House where some beautiful specimens fluttered freely around us or even landed on us!

Water, water!

This week the school were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Paul Tingle from Severn Trent. He gave a very amusing assembly on the importance of saving water, which the children really enjoyed.

Golden reward

Children at two Stourport schools have been rewarded for consistent long term excellent behaviour and attitudes towards learning with some “golden trips” that reward their achievements in school.
